OpenAI launches 'Intelligent UI' for ChatGPT with interactive visuals and GPT-6

OpenAI has introduced a new 'Intelligent UI' feature for ChatGPT that integrates interactive charts, diagrams, and buttons directly into conversation responses alongside the rollout of GPT-6.

The new interface allows ChatGPT to generate more than just text. According to The Verge and TechCrunch, users can now interact with inline tools such as retirement savings calculators, bill splitters, and editable graphs. OpenAI trained the new GPT-6 models to determine when an interactive visual is more helpful than a text-based answer.

During a demonstration for journalists, OpenAI product manager Aarush Selvan explained that the most helpful answers for planning trips or learning complex topics are often not just text. Examples of the technology in action include interactive diagrams of airplane wings and bicycle designs, as well as categorized scrolls for learning Mahjong tiles.

The update is rolling out globally starting Wednesday for Plus, Pro, Business, and Enterprise tiers, which will use the mid-range GPT-6 Sol model. TechCrunch noted that users can customize the interface to reduce the number of visuals if they prefer. Free and 'Go' tier users are scheduled to receive access to the more efficient GPT-6 Luna model on Thursday.

In addition to the visual interface, The Verge reported that GPT-6 features improved web search capabilities and provides quicker partial answers while gathering data. The company also stated that the new models demonstrate stronger resistance to safety training bypass attempts.

OpenAI announced its first GPT-6 models last month before officially integrating the Sol and Luna versions into ChatGPT to support these new interface capabilities.
